S&P Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS)
S&P Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) was developed in collaboration with Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI). It consists of 10 economic sectors aggregated from 23 industry groups, 59 industries and 123 sub-industries covering over 10,000 companies globally. All GICS sectors, industry groups, industries, and sub-industries have a common base of 100 as of December 31, 1994. The 10 sectors are Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples, Energy, Financials, Health Care, Industrials, Information Technology, Materials, Telecommunication Services and Utilities.
